Thursday 29th May

Tonight I went out and played with Blossom, I haven’t very much with her this week as I have a new pony on trial so I have been trying her out.

Well what an amazing night I had!! We started off with just playing with all the games and really trying to put more work into change of direction, as this still really needs work. I think my position is still wrong and I think she thinks I am asking her to disengage instead of coming into me – Really got a lot of thinking to do on this one…

We then played stick to me on line and it was going really well so I decided to give it a go at liberty again. We managed walk, trot, stop, back up all really well. But then I put just a little bit too much pressure on her and she left me and ran down to the field gate, so I heading down closer to her and got her attention and managed to draw her back to me and the played loads of friendly game. The lady who lives in the house next to the ponies field then came out so I stood talking to her and again Blossom left, think she got bored from our chat! She must have walk off to at least half way up the field, the lady then asked would I be able to get her to come back to me from there? I said I doubt it I think I will need to go and get her, but much to me surprise all I done was shouted on her and slapped the ground with the carrot stick a couple of time and too my amazement she turned round and look at me with both eyes and trotted straight too me without any hesitation!! Wow I didn’t expect that and it was the best feeling ever watching her running to me.

Friday 23rd May

Today before I left for the weekend, I went out and played with Blossom – I started with showing a friend who is interested in starting Parelli me playing the seven games with Blossom. I just played on the 12ft line to keep it simple, it was so strange using the shorter rope again. To think not that long ago I was all tangled up in the rope and never imagined myself being able to play with a 22ft line!!

All the games went extremely well and I had a really good focus from Blossom, so she gave an excellent demo of what the seven games look like!

I then moved on and played with her on the 22ft line, starting with yo yo game I had to do a little approach and retreat to gain her confidence at some points. But overall she was really good. We then moved on to playing with transitions on line, she really seems to have got the hang of this especially the walk, trot transitions – she still appears to be unconfident in canter which I think causes her to either speed up or come to an abrupt halt.. So that’s something we will need to work on more and will also helps us more with the ridden tasks.

We then played with change of direction for a little bit mainly just in walk and a slow trot to try and make sure I was in the correct position and also to help Blossom gain her confidence. Still a lot of work needed here..

I then had to go and get the other ponies ready for going away so I just took Blossom’s halter off her in the field and to my surprise she stuck to me!! So we then ended up playing a great game of stick to me in the open field, I didn’t think we were ready for this yet but it just goes to show!! I was so excited and nobody even seen us!!

Friday 23rd May

Well everything at the new yard is going great!! Ponies are now all settled in there new field and loving it, the field is bigger than what they had before and also has lots more grass which they are loving!!

I have been out and played with Blossom a few times, but haven’t done very much with her as I have just been letting her settle in and making sure she is happy and confident in her new home before I ask her to do much. But what I have been doing with her has went really well and I got a lot of focus from her, which was good.

Hopefully going to build my own little play park next week so I can have more obstacles to play with which will challenge me and Blossom a lot more and will make everything more fun! So if anyone as any ideas of what I could build let me know..

Friday 16th May

Well it’s been ages since I last updated this, but things are going to change now!! I am moving the ponies tomorrow, so I will have more facilities now to play with the ponies and also loads of hacking which will be great!!

I haven’t really been doing much with Blossom in the last couple of months, as basically I have been trying to get Aicha to full fitness and I haven’t really had the facilitys to play with Blossom.

I went on Lyla’s level two course and that was great, I learnt so much over the three days. So I think I now have all the knowledge I need to complete the level two tasks. Just lots of perfect practice and then il maybe start filming some of the tasks.
